Aging Skin; Who Ages?; ISSN Students create an Insanely Great Treatment for aging skin and a cookbook called - “FRESH”, natural “spa” treatments for aging skin and more. Our Contribution to going green in skincare.
“FRESH”, Is the only way to describe how it feels to have a green fresh peeled and crushed cucumber over your face. It gives superb hydration to Aging skin. We thought of “FRESH:, a “spa” cookbook with natural home recipes for Aging skin and more to contribute to the universal problem of the ozone and be our International School of Skincare and Nails (ISSN) student team contribution to going green. Write with your questions about your skin and I will blog various natural treatments we have in our recipe book.
Yes, there are plenty of ways to slow the aging process down for “Aging skin” but the best way we have found starts with the inside of your body which a good nutritionist could help you with. We learned to use the same antioxidants we get from good nutritional foods to create Insanely Great Treatments that feel fantastic and Fresh on your skin and give you the same or better benefits that you may find in store bought products. We know that these include antioxidants such as: Vitamin C, found in plants and fruits; Vitamin E, found in rice bran and palm fruit oil; Alpha Lipoic acid, found in plant and animal sources; DMAE, found in fish (Halibut is a good source as well), Caretenoids, found in red, yellow and orange flesh of plant leaves, flowers and fruits as well as;flavenoids, found in green tea, soy, red wine (or Restivinol I recently found gives many of same red wine benefits without the alcohol) and other food sources. Through absorption in your skin you will reap the benefits with a little creativity at home.
Estheticians learn to treat clients skin problems in the top outermost layer called the stratum corneum where the licensed esthetician is primarily concerned. Surrounding our cells are lipids referred to as “intercellular cement, which protect our cells from water loss and provides hydration. Dehydration is one of the first things we complain about because our skin feels tight and dry. We become concerned of aging but some ignore it until the problem is severe. Begin a skincare regimen early and it will be a matter of maintaining instead of Aesthetic facial surgery which you would need to consult a Dr. to provide.
Who Ages? Dead cells continually shed but as we age what would take a 20 year olds skin less time to see new skintone in would take a 40 year old much much longer. A 40 year old may need to exfoliate the skin more often because it takes between 28 -40 days for cell reproduction. As we age, the intercellular cement breaks down, Co-enzyme Q-10 that is naturally produced in our cells decrease after the age of 20. It is the Licensed Estheticians responsibility to work with clients on the epidermis, not the dermis, unless working with a physician or another licensed medical practitioner.
We found at home natural spa treatments for the skin that we put into a cookbook form with photos so you may tackle aging skin problems without spending too much money. A special internet article mentioned that the excitement in skincare isn’t only about creams and lotions you put on your skin but what you put in your body as well. If you pay love and attention to your skin as you age including caring for yourself in one or more areas that are all connected to the anatomy of your skin (immune, respiratory, circulatory, lymph and neurotransmitter systems), you can maintain and improve the health of your skin. Include an Esthetician and you can see results faster but you will still need to participate in the at home regimen appropriate for your skintype.
Your organs reproduce in 9 months which is AMAZING. Our instructor, tells us that our body is PERFECT in design as it repairs itself with a little care. Your bones reproduce completely also in only 7 years (all 206). You can create a new body with self discipline. The skin is related to your feelings of self confidence and power. It is the largest organ in your body and everyone sees it. You have heard the old adages, You are what you eat? You don’t have to be vain to care for your skin and it shows that you do or you don’t. Beauty really is from within and it shows up on the outside.
Look in the mirror at your skin. You may think that you are “age-less” or have good genetics now but Intrinsic Aging happens naturally. The Extrinsic factors could be worse than what your genetics (Intrinsic) had in store for your future. You may be affected by too much sun, no sun protection (recommended spf 30 - 50); gravity; sleeping position; sleeping on your sides or stomach can cause wrinkles faster instead of sleeping on your back; Smoking, we all know what that can do.
These environmental factors are bad enough and we have to deal with the intrinsic aging of fine wrinkles, thin and transparent skin, loss of fat that fills our cheekbones and make them less firm in eye sockets as well as the hands and neck. Bones shrink away from the skin due to bone loss and cause sagging skin. I have always been told to take my calcium but you can get this from other sources than milk if you are allergic.
We get dry skin that itches and inability to sweat to cool the skin as we age. Graying hair is what we mostly identify with aging but even worse would be hair loss. Although, we have found natural treatments for growing hair too. Nail beds also start getting ridges and the half moon disappears.
In 20’s you may see folds between the eyebrows; 30’s start to see a duller complexion or first few wrinkles; 40’s, lines around eyes, forehead and mouth (upper lips) and the skin doesn’t have a youthful glow. If you are guilty of not taking care of yourself, smoking, sun worshipper or just plain bad genetics then Dr’s can help with todays skincare Aesthetic solutions. Laser may be the safest according to some popular beliefs in the book, Worlds Greatest Health Secrets. The best medicine is prevention.
Today you can look better than ever no matter your age. Just remember, what happens on the inside on a physical and emotional front will show up on your face! A natural approach with a good (food) choices, lifestyle and product choices can delay or reverse aging skin. If you see deeper lines and age spots in your 50’s then consider filler products then laser at that time.
You may think there is nothing you can do about it? Yes, you can. Aging is not chronological and it is biological cell damage and remember our cells renew themselves so get started today. It isn’t too late to start looking younger today. You will progressively see results as you make changes in all areas of your health. Your body repairs as it sleeps so get the rest you need and don’t let your lifestyle cause aging and then disease.
Knowing the biology of aging skin is important so we understand how to change it. One of the biggest things that cause us to age is inflammation in the skin. Too much sugar causes an unnatural process in our body that causes pre-mature aging. It has to do with the Mitochondria or fuel factories in our cells that convert the food we eat into energy. If it malfunctions our cells die.
Two main causes of pre mature aging are oxidative stress and genetic defects. What is showing up on the outside of your skin is telling us what is going on in the inside of your body. We hear that free radicals are causing us to age and we buy lots of creams that suposedly make promises that they have antioxidants inside to fight free radicals. Free radicals wound our healthy cells and cause a complicated intecellular inflamatory response due to pollution, x-rays, chemicals in lotions and cosmetics. We must take steps to protect ourselves with natural home treatments and making sure we know what ingredients are in the products we are using on our bodies. It may be causing worse damage if the antioxidants disappear as soon as you open up the jar or are just in the package for the preservation of the product - not doing what it promises to do for your skin.
The fibers or fibroblasts generate elastin and collagen, the two proteins that together keep our skin firm, good tone, soft and supple. Vitamin C will help with these needs. Concentrations of antioxidants in creams and lotions are too low most of the time. To improve skin tone and texture and sooth imflammation there are two things that can help. Neutralize those free radicals inside and outside of your body and boost immune function through good nutrition, hormonal balance, detoxification and topical support of the right products. We decided that topical support could be through the same foods you eat such as avocados, carrots, chocolate, cumcumbers, olive oil, pumpkin, papaya, and strawberries etc.
Our FRESH home spa recipes Cookbook for aging skin will help you with the topical support of your skin. Let us know if you think they are insanely great too. You can find many of these on the web or you can contact me for more information. Make sure you aren’t allergic to the foods so you do not get a reaction from allergies. Normally, if you break out then the skin had a problem internally and needed to come to the surface anyway. Most people think the opposite, that the cream, lotion etc. caused it.
Any dramatic improvements you can see from taking care of your skin are reversed shortly if you stop taking care of your skin. Sunscreen is very important whether you wear makeup or not. We were taught to cover up our skin problems but we are here to teach you to baby your skin. One Dr. told me, it doesn’t matter what kind of makeup you wear if your skin looks good. Even the best makeup for your skin will look bad in areas if you aren’t hydrated. Aging skin will soak up the makeup and look mask like. Hydrating the skin is one of the best things you can do for aging skin as well as other skintypes.
